Supply List

Beginners Watercolor

Paints: Buy the best you can afford.  Tube paints if possible.  Avoid student grade if possible. Winsor Newton,  Holbein, Daniel Smith and Cheap Joes are all good.

            Recommended:

2 Blues:  French ultramarine, and cobalt  (and cerulean if you can)

                        2 Reds: Permanent Rose or Permanent Alizarin Crimson and Cadmium red;

                        2Yellows:  Lemon yellow and Aureolin.

Earth colors:  Burnt sienna, Sap Green,

Any other colors you like:   Antwerp or Prussian blues, Indigo, cadmium orange, quinacridone gold, cobalt violet indigo, raw sienna, burnt umber, yellow ochre

No black or white needed for this class.

Palette:  Large plastic white area to mix color in.  If you don’t have one, a white cookie sheet will do, or the Styrofoam trays that meat comes in…be inventive.

Brushes: Buy the best and the largest that you can afford.

Round: one as large and as good as possible, one medium and one small

Flat: one cheap large one flat to wet paper and one good medium

Paper:  I will give you one 140lb Arches cold press paper to start..  More are available in studio

Water containers: At least two large containers for water:  large plastic cups or large yogurt containers will do

Sketch book/Journal and pencil and eraser and pencil sharpener

I can supply or you can bring:  Paper towels, natural sponges, spray bottle, razor, crayon (white), wax candle (white), Masking frisket, Kosher salt, saran wrap and other fun stuff which will be discussed in class.

Where to buy:  Cheap Joe’s  http://www.cheapjoes.com is my favorite. They mail to your door.  Ask them to include a catalogue

For First Day, bring all supplies and a creative spirit.

My studio is located at 59 Cedarvale Lane in North Hero.

Turn west off Rt. 2 onto Station Rd (south of North Hero Village and the Library)

Follow Station Rd till it turns right at the water and becomes Pelot’s Point Road

Follow it along the water about 1.5 miles till it bears right at a row of mailboxes

DO NOT bear right but turn left at the mailboxes onto Cedarvale Lane

It makes a sharp right then I am the first driveway on the left (#59 and #61).
